This fellowship was established in 1974 by Sydney F. Small, former trustee of the Darden School Foundation, for the purpose of providing scholarship support to deserving students at the Darden School.

This scholarship was established in 1978 by Lucille H. Sherman in memory of her husband, Roger, for the purpose of providing scholarship support to Darden students who give promise of being outstanding citizens. This scholarship is offered by the Darden School Foundation.

Established in 2007 by Frank E. Genovese (MBA ’74), an alumnus of the Darden School and trustee emeritus of the Darden School Foundation. This merit-based scholarship is awarded to First Year students in the School's full-time MBA program.

This scholarship was established in 1986 by members of the Class of 1986 and faculty and friends to honor Peter J. Niehaus, who died during spring break of his Second Year. The scholarship is intended to honor a member of the Second Year class who, throughout his or her First Year, was distinguished by an ability to promote a supportive, relaxed and amiable atmosphere at Darden while achieving academic excellence. This scholarship also supports a First Year student at the School with demonstrated financial need.

This scholarship was established in 2005 by David Walentas (SEAS ’61, MBA ’64). The scholarship is awarded to First- or Second-Year MBA students who are enrolled at Darden, who show promise for success in business, and whose parents are not college graduates. As a first preference, the Walentas Scholarship is awarded to a student neither of whose parents has a four-year college degree. As a second preference, the scholarship is awarded to a student from a household in which only one parent has a four-year college degree.

This scholarship was established in 1982 by Landmark Communications. Under the leadership of Frank Batten Sr. (A&S ’50), Landmark Communications, Inc. grew to become one of the nation's largest privately held media companies. This scholarship is awarded to first year Darden students based on financial need.

This scholarship was established in 2018 by Stephen E. Bachand (MBA ’63) to provide support to first generation students who are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents. Stephen Bachand is the former President and CEO of the Canadian Tire Corp Ltd.

This fund was established in 2011 by Philip W. Knisely (MBA ’78) and Patricia A. Knisely to provide financial support for an MBA student at Darden. Knisely is a former member and chair of the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees.

This scholarship was established in 1987 by members of the Class of 1957, Darden's first graduating class, at their 30th reunion. It is named in honor of Darden's first dean Charles Abbott. A Harvard University faculty member, Abbott was a consultant to the Darden School Sponsors as they laid plans for the school in the 1950s. He subsequently was recruited to the Darden deanship. Mr. Abbott founded Darden's short-course programs for working executives and helped establish the Tayloe Murphy Institute before retiring in 1972. He died in 1986. and is awarded to students who bring diversity of work experience to the classroom from non-traditional work backgrounds.

This fund was established in 2018 by Douglas L. Lebda (MBA ’14) to support students. Doug L. Lebda left business school, which he would return to nearly 20 years later, to start LendingTree during the dot-com era. In the twenty years since, LendingTree has become a leader in empowering consumers and changing how people shop for financing. He co-teaches an entrepreneurship class at Darden.

Established in 1984 by Robert E. Lamb II (MBA ’70) to help a student benefit from the Darden experience in hopes that he or she will go on to make an impact in the world of practical affairs.

Established in 1987 by the Class of 1972, the Killgallon Family Foundation and the Ohio Art Company, for outstanding students at the Darden School.

The Byrne and Pamela Murphy Scholarship was established in 2020 by J. Byrne Murphy (MBA ’86) and Pamela Murphy to support scholarships. J. Byrne Murphy is the CEO of Kitebrook Partners and Chairman and founder of Digiplex. His experiences attempting to open outlet center across Europe are shared in his award-winning 2008 memoir, Le Deal.

An endowed scholarship established with a gift from Samuel A. Lewis, a former member of the Darden Foundation's Board of Trustees, in honor of his parents.

This scholarship was established in 1987 by the investment bank Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette along with members of the Class of 1968. The award is in memory of William R. Fisher, a valued employee and treasured classmate, who passed away in 1983. The scholarship is merit-based and supports some of Darden's most promising students.

This scholarship was established in 2016 with seed funding from the Class of 1987 G. Robert Strauss Jr. Marketing Award Fund and supported by additional gifts from members of the Class of 1987 during their 30th Reunion year. The fund provides scholarship support to Darden students.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by the Class of 1994 to honor Mike Traina, whom his classmates deem a sterling example for how Darden can send one on a positive professional trajectory. The scholarship supports students. Mike Traina is the CEO of iLabor Network and MDT Holdings.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by L. Bradford Armstrong (MBA ’74) to support students. Brad Armstrong is the President of Armstrong Partners and a member of the Board of Directors at Union First Market Bank.

This scholarship was established in 2018 by Naren K. Gurshaney (MBA ’89), Lilo Simmons Ukrop (MBA ’89) and R. Scott Ukrop (MBA ’89) to support students. Naren Gurshaney is the Interim Chief Executive Officer at ServiceMaster. R. Scott and Lilo Simmons Ukrop are philanthropic leaders in their community and have founded several successful businesses.

The Camp Family Scholarship was established in 2011 by the Camp Family Committee. This scholarship provides for a two-year award to a student or students admitted to the Darden School. Preference is given to a student who may possess untapped or underdeveloped leadership and academic potential but who has a record of performance that reveals character traits of tenacity and perseverance.

This fellowship was established in 2011 by James A. Cooper (MBA ’84) for the purpose of providing scholarships to Darden students. Cooper is senior managing partner at Thompson Street Capital Partners, a Saint Louis-based private equity firm and also serves as a member (and formerly as chair) of the Darden School Foundation Board of Trustees.

This fund was established in 2012 by Elizabeth H. and Daniel S. Lynch (both MBA ’84) for the purpose of providing scholarship support to students in any of the Darden MBA degree programs.

This scholarship was established in 2016 by Jianwei J. Yao (MBA ’01) and Wenjing Mao in honor of Mr. Yao’s grandfather, who he admired for his courage and diligence throughout his life. Mr. Yao’s grandfather was a “born entrepreneur” who ran a successful small business in his hometown in China and later rebuilt it in Shanghai. In Chinese, “Yuyan” shares the same pronunciation as “prophecy” and “fable.” This merit-based scholarship is awarded to students in the School’s residential MBA program.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by J. Andrew Bugas (MBA ’86) and Maryann Bugas to support students.

The Dickson Foundation Fellowship, established in 2011 by the Dickson Foundation, was created for the purpose of providing financial support for MBA students who have been admitted to the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

Established in 2012, this fund was created for the purpose of providing financial support for MBA students who have been admitted to the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. The fund was created by Allan W. Staats (MBA ’62) in honor of his 50th reunion and in gratitude for the Darden experience and its influence on his career.

This scholarship was established in 2018 by Joseph P. Balog (BSCHE ’81, MBA ’88) and Cheryl S. Balog to support students. Joseph is a Partner in PwC’s Advisory Services practice specializing in merger integration, divestiture management and merger and acquisition process improvement.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by L. Paul Nelson II (MBA ’77) to support students. Paul is the Retired President and CEO of Onduline North America, a leading manufacturer of building products.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by Marietta Edmunds Zakas (MBA/JD ’74) and Dennis L. Zakas (BA ’78, MA ’82, and JD ’82) to support students. Martie Edmunds Zakas is the EVP and CFO of Mueller Water Products. Dennis Zakas is the Chairman and CEO of Zuzu, Inc. and a Managing Partner at Zakas and Leonard.

This scholarship was established in 2018 by H. William Coogan Jr. (MBA ’82) and Theresa Kost Riddle (McIntire ’87) to support students in the residential MBA program. Bill Coogan is the former chairman and CEO of Firstmark Corp., an aerospace and defense products manufacturing company that was sold in June 2015 to a portfolio company of the private equity firm, The Riverside Company.

This scholarship was established in 2014 by Leslie Cantwell in honor of her husband, Charles W. Cantwell (MBA ’79). Charles Cantwell was CFO for a division at DuPont.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by R. David Banyard, Jr. (MBA ’04) and Diane Banyard to support students. R. David Banyard is President of MasterBrand Cabinets and has expertise in global manufacturing, operations and commercial leadership.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by Darren A. Fultz (MBA ’06) to support students. Darren Fultz co-founded Dorilton Capital in 2009 and became CEO in 2018.

This scholarship was established in 2018 by Catherine J. Friedman (MBA ’86) to support students. Catherine Friedman held numerous executive positions during a 23-year investment banking career with Morgan Stanley, including Managing Director and Head of West Coast Healthcare and Co-Head of the Biotechnology Practice.

This scholarship was established in 2020 by Michael S. Augins (MBA ’99) to support students, especially those interested in entrepreneurship and innovation. Michael Augins is President of Imagen Dental Partners, President of Charlotte Management Advisors and CEO of MagicMoneyLLC.

This scholarship was established in 2019 by T. Scott Coleman (MBA ’79) and Yasmine Zyne Coleman to support underrepresented students. T. Scott Coleman is president of SLK Realty, Inc. and has been active in all aspects of the real estate industry for the past 30 years.
