    What Does Financial Aid Cover?

Financial aid may be utilized to cover the full Cost of Attendance (COA) for the program. The maximum amount of financial aid (including scholarships, loans and any other known resources excluding Veterans Benefits) for which you are eligible is limited to the total COA. The total COA varies based on where you reside and if you will be receiving federal loans.

Financial aid funds accepted in excess of the direct costs will be refunded to the student usually within two (2) business days of disbursement by the University of Virginia. Once a refund is processed, the student should receive the funds within two to three (2–3) business days after the refund date if the student has Direct Deposit set up. Otherwise it will be seven to ten (7–10) business days to receive a paper refund check. Checks will be mailed to the mailing address on file in the Student Information System (SIS).

Students must apply for financial aid on an annual basis. The student’s current financial aid application only covers the COA for the First Year in the 2021–2022 academic year (Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters) of the program. Students are encouraged to mark their calendar to reapply for financial aid in the spring for their Second Year in the 2022–2023 academic year (Summer 2022, Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 semesters).

    Direct costs include:

    • Tuition and fees billed each semester
    • Darden MBA case fees
    • Global Residency

    Indirect costs include:

    • Living expenses
    • Books and computer
    • Federal loan fees, if federal loans are borrowed
    • Travel to the domestic residencies
