Global Academics & Network
Academic degree programs and extracurriculars at Darden are infused with global content to help all students develop a global mindset.
Dean Scott C. Beardsley is a firm believer that business today is global - and so is Darden. The Darden School connects with over 80 countries each year through a variety of avenues, and all students are expected to have a global experience during their time at Darden.

Global Academics
Darden's MBA formats include a variety of experiences for students to study in locations around the world. These academic opportunities in other countries help our students develop a rich global perspective and enhance their ability to lead in diverse settings.
Full-time MBA
Every student in the full-time MBA program may take one Darden Worldwide Course and receive a scholarship covering all or most of the program fee.
- Darden Worldwide Courses: Elective courses led by Darden faculty outside the United States in March and May. Each course provides the opportunity to visit a different country and experience its business practices and cultures firsthand. Each course includes classes with practitioner presentations as well as onsite visits to companies, governmental agencies and cultural sites. Several Darden Worldwide courses include hands-on consulting with local businesses. Recently, these courses have taken students to Brazil, China, India, Israel, Japan, South Africa, Spain, and Sweden.
Darden Worldwide Courses are categorized based on their content and learning outcomes as Global Immersions, Global Topics and Global Client Courses. Immersions allow students to gain broad exposure to business and culture in a particular location. Topics courses dive deeply into a business topic that is enhanced and best understood in a particular global setting. Global Client Courses offer students the opportunity to consult with a real client as part of a larger faculty-led, project-based course.
- Global Client Projects: Participants will build their leadership and business skills in a truly global setting by working with clients from a different country and culture, and ultimately gain hands-on experience in the practical nature of global business.
- Exchange Programs: The Darden School of Business has reciprocal exchange relationships with business schools around the world. These exchanges give students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a new culture and develop a broadened understanding of doing business in an international setting.
Executive MBA
- Global Residencies: During global residencies, students spend the week attending case method classes, engaging with local Darden alumni, participating in Global Leadership Explorations and learning to work across international borders. GEMBA students attend all four residencies; EMBA students attend at least one of their choosing.
- Global Client Projects: Participants will build their leadership and business skills in a truly global setting by working with clients from a different country and culture, and ultimately gain hands-on experience in the practical nature of global business.
