Professor Paul Freed is an Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. His main areas of research are in consumer finance and real estate. He has presented his research at leading academic conferences both domestically and internationally and won several awards, including the Stanford University Rising Scholar in Financial Literacy Award. His work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Financial Economics and Management Science. His recent work studies how financial conditions shape individual behavior, such as the propensity to engage in financial crime.
Professor Freed teaches “Financial Management and Policies I” for first-year MBA students and “Real Estate Finance” as second-year elective. Prior to Darden, Professor Freed taught courses in corporate finance and real estate at the University of South Carolina, where he earned his Ph.D. in Finance.
