About - Return to Grounds - Latest Operations Status

Current Operations Status: Phase III

The Darden School is fully operational at its Charlottesville and UVA Darden DC Metro locations. At Darden, buildings are open, and the School has modified operations and facilities in Charlottesville and Rosslyn in line with guidance from UVA and public health authorities.

Phases of Return to Grounds

Currently, the Darden School is considered to be in Phase II.

The Darden School has designed phases to increase on-Grounds density levels as required for operations during ramp-up, with health and safety always the highest priority. These phases are iterative and may be adapted over time. It is possible the School will move back to earlier phases to ensure health and wellbeing. Any change in phase will depend on and adhere to guidance from the Commonwealth of Virginia, University of Virginia and other public health protocols.

Phase 0. Designated faculty and staff who are considered essential to academic operations and have been approved as such may work in Darden facilities using the appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining proper social-distancing requirements. No other individuals are allowed on-site without an essential reason. Activities will include preparing for other individuals to return to facilities for educational programming. Core facilities will be prepared, needed supplies acquired, and business processes designed and deployed to ensure a smooth approval and monitoring process.

Phase I. Select students, faculty and staff members will be allowed back on Grounds, as long as they can adhere to health expectations and ongoing compliance with safety guidelines and based on organizational needs for on-site presence. At this stage, select individuals can return based on prioritization to the essential nature of the work.

Phase II. On-Grounds density levels can increase when the Commonwealth of Virginia and the University of Virginia deem the disease spread is under control and effectively monitored, or management and treatments options are successfully advanced to acceptable levels.

Phase III. Individuals will be allowed to work normally in all environments following any new and permanent implementation of safety guidelines. Faculty, staff and visitors will be allowed back in Darden facilities, subject to safety guidelines.
