About Leadership - Julie Daum
Juliet Daum
Chief Marketing and Communications Officer
Julie Daum leads the Darden School’s branding, marketing and public relations efforts to advance strategic institutional goals. With global marketing communications experience gained working in Europe and the United States, Daum elevates the Darden brand globally through data-driven strategy, integrated marketing communications and the power of teamwork.
Daum joined Darden in 2008 as director of communications. She is a member of the University of Virginia’s Communications Council and in 2016 graduated from UVA’s Cornerstone Program for high-potential leaders.
Her drive to lift ideas and thought leaders first developed as a book publishing executive in New York City, where she led publicity campaigns to create bestsellers at top-tier publishing houses Simon & Schuster and Rizzoli International Publications.
An interest in global affairs and language led her to Barcelona, Spain, where she earned a master of science in journalism from the University of Barcelona and Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She was the only American — and native English speaker — in her graduating class.
Over a decade in Spain, she worked and consulted with organizations including Loft Publications/HarperCollins, Carmen Balcells Literary Agency and the White House Writers Group. She transitioned into the field of graduate business education at IESE Business School, where she served in various communication roles and as founding English-language editor of the knowledge portal IESE Insight.
Daum earned a bachelor of arts from UVA as a Dean’s List scholar and attended New York University’s book and magazine publishing institute.
