Business Leaders Offer Thought Leadership on the Importance of Innovation in Determining Climate Policy
The Business Innovation and Climate Change Initiative was launched in the Washington, D.C., area on 22 May 2017 as business leaders offered thought leadership on the importance of innovation in determining climate policy. The Darden School’s Batten Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation hosted a panel featuring Professor Mike Lenox, Darden’s chief strategy officer and author of Will Business Save the Earth: Innovating Our Way to Sustainability; Kevin Fay, an internationally recognized specialist on environmental and energy issues and vice chairman and CEO of Alcalde & Fay; John Mandyck, chief sustainability officer at United Technologies Corp. and chair of the corporate advisory board of the World Green Building Council; and Stephen Harper, global director of environment and energy policy at Intel Corp.
The launch event brought together Darden alumni and other stakeholders from business, nonprofit, government and academic arenas, and featured remarks from Darden Dean Scott Beardsley about the unique opportunity for business leaders to come together to solve one of the most significant and singular challenges facing our society today, climate change.
